(Thursday, February 6/2003)-- The first of seven public consultation meetings by HRM's District Boundaries Advisory Committee will be held Monday in Bedford.
The Committee will present its recommendations to reduce the number of Districts within the municipality from 23 down to 20, as well as its proposed changes to the existing boundary structure.
Councillor Len Goucher (District 21-Bedford) is urging residents of Bedford and surrounding areas to attend the meeting and to learn more about the proposed District 21 boundaries.
"Bedford is a very distinct community and we do not want to see that community of interest jeopardized. The people of Bedford are the community, they have common interests and they do not want to see the current District divided. Expansion of the current boundaries may be an option to explore in order to retain Bedford's community of interest, " the Councillor said.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
