Workshops Prepare Youth for Employment

(Friday, March 21/2003)-- As the summer job season approaches, a community youth group in Bedford is offering a three-day workshop to assist young people in the area to prepare for, and obtain, suitable job placements.

The "Youth Career Exploration Event" is being organized by the Bedford Youth Development Association.

The workshops will be held at the Fire House Youth Centre, 1247 Bedford Highway, on Tuesday, March 25th, and Wednesday, March 26th. A career day, featuring a number of groups and organizations such as the Canadian Armed Forces and the Nova Scotia Construction Safety Association, will be held at the Bedford United Church, 1200 Bedford Highway, on Thursday, March 27th.

Among the number of workshops available are "Parents as Career Coaches"; "Preparing for Employment A-Z"; "Resumes that Rock"; "Acting the Job Interview"; and "Online Job Search and Career Planning."
