Mayor/ Chief Administrative Officer Support "Cops for Cancer 2003"
(Monday, June 16/2003)-- Halifax Regional Police has less than a week remaining in its "Cops for Cancer 2003" campaign, a fund-raising drive in which police officers and civilian employees shave their heads bald to raise funds for the Nova Scotia Division of the Canadian Cancer Society.
To show support for this worthy cause, HRM's Chief Administrative Officer George McLellan agreed to have his head shaved if $1000 could be raised to support "Cops for Cancer." This goal was achieved, thanks to the generosity of many Halifax Regional Councillors and a private corporate sponsor.
Mayor Peter Kelly will have the honour of shaving Mr. McLellan's head during a photo opportunity for the media. Constable Mark Hobeck will be on-hand to provide details on "Cops for Cancer."
When: Tuesday, June 17
Time: 1:30 p.m.
Where: Halifax Hall, Main Level, City Hall, 1841 Argyle Street
Halifax Regional Police will release full details later this week on other head shaves taking place at the Halifax Shopping Centre and Mic Mac Mall on Saturday, June 21st.
