Canada Day Holiday Changes Collection Date
(Wednesday, June 25/2003 )-- Residents of HRM are reminded that collection of recyclables , organics or refuse which would have normally been scheduled for Canada Day, July 1st, will take place on the preceding Saturday, June 28th.
To ensure that materials are collected on that day, residents should place their materials at the curb on Friday evening for collection the following morning.
The shift of collection from Canada Day to June 28th is the first time collection will take place on a preceding Saturday . Halifax Regional Council decided earlier this year that it would be more convenient for residents to have waste collection on the Saturday preceding holidays that fall on a Monday and Tuesday. In these cases, the previous practice was to reschedule collections on the Saturday following the holiday.
