Judging includes overall tidiness, turf areas, environmental efforts, urban forestry, heritage preservation, and community involvement.

Judges for the International Challenge category include Matthew Rosen, Horticulture Manager, City of Des Moines, Iowa, and Hubert Noseworthy, retired Superintendent of Parks and Recreation, St. John's, Newfoundland.

The judges will tour a number of public, private, institutional and commercial properties and sites throughout HRM during their visit.
