Solid Waste Services

(Monday, September 29, 2003, 8:00pm)

  1. Missed Residential Collection Today: Alternate collection date for today's (Monday September 29) service is Saturday, October 4.
  2. Residential Collection Services for Tuesday, September 30: Regular refuse, organics and recyclables collection for residential customers will resume. Customers can expect potential delays in service. Collection will not be possible on streets that remain blocked.
  3. Disposal of Tree branches/brush: Tree branches are organic material and should be disposed of during your green cart collection week. The bundle limit has been doubled to ten and can be placed at the curb. Ideally, bundles should be approximately 4 feet long and 8 inches in diameter in order to maintain collection efficiency. Large trees and limbs obstructing public property will be removed by HRM staff during coming weeks.
  4. Commercial customers are requested to hold refuse for at least one more day to provide interim capacity at the solid waste facility.

Please stay tuned to your local media outlets for further updates. For more information please contact the HRM Customer Call Centre at 490-4000 or Toll Free: 1 (800) 835-6428 or check the HRM Website at www.halifax.ca
