Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency Service Fire Prevention Elementary School Contest Dates Extended
The fire prevention elementary school contest sponsored by the Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Service, entitled "When Fire Strikes, Get Out! Stay Out!" has been extended due to Hurricane Juan. Students must return the signed portion only of the contest to their teacher by October 24, 2003, with teachers forwarding the envelopes to the principal by October 27, 2003, for pick up by the fire service during the week of October 27, 2003.
This years contest is going electronic and there are approximately two thousand prizes to be won by students. Students and/or teachers can download the fire prevention contest by visiting the Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency Service web site at www.halifax.ca/fire and click on the fire prevention week icon,or requesting hard copies of the contest through the fire prevention division at 490-5546.
Each Elementary School Principal will also be sent an e-mail with an attachment containing the fire prevention contest. Due to the damage created by Hurricane Juan, each school will be contacted by telephone as a follow up to ensure the e-Mail has been received, and/or whether hard copies are required.
The fire prevention contest will be available in the Daily News on Wednesday, October 8, 2003 during fire prevention week, it will be e-mailed to all fire chiefs and fire stations, as well as advertized on Channel 8 and 10.
Once all tabulation is complete, prizes will be distributed during the month of November.
