The fire prevention elementary school contest sponsored by the Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Service, entitled "When Fire Strikes, Get Out! Stay Out!" has been extended due to Hurricane Juan. Students must return the signed portion only of the contest to their teacher by October 24, 2003, with teachers forwarding the envelopes to the principal by October 27, 2003, for pick up by the fire service during the week of October 27, 2003.
This years contest is going electronic and there are approximately two thousand prizes to be won by students.
