Deadline for the Directing the Action workbook extended until October 14

(October 7, 2003) - Due to delays caused by last week's hurricane, the deadline for submitting HRM's Directing the Action workbook has been extended until October 14.

HRM is planning healthy growth for the region and is asking for help from residents through the Directing the Action workbook. The municipality is developing a Regional Plan to ensure Halifax Regional Municipality grows as residents want it to; to protect the things they value most; and to ensure the region's economic success.

The Directing the Action workbook gives residents a chance to let the municipal government know how they think the region should grow over the next 25 years.

The workbook asks for opinions on some of the complex issues HRM is facing. The answers will help form achievable Regional Planning goals and objectives. Ultimately, they will help make the tough decisions about HRM's economy, settlement patterns, transportation, environment and Halifax Harbour.

The workbook is available online at www.DirectingTheAction-HRM.com. Copies are also available at HRM libraries, recreation centres, customer service centres or at the Halifax/Dartmouth ferry terminals. It takes about 45 minutes to complete.

Call 490-5857 for more information or to have a copy sent to a specific address.

Completed workbooks can be dropped off at HRM customer service centres or mailed to the Regional Planning office at P.O. Box 1749 Halifax, Nova Scotia B3J 3A5.
