Parking, Traffic Changes Allow for New Construction
(Wednesday, December 3/2003)-- Halifax Regional Municipality is taking measures to provide temporary on-street parking in the Dresden Row area during the construction phase of a new condominium development.
A portion of the west side of Dresden Row, between Sackville Street and Artillery Place, will be closed for the next 12-18 months to allow for the development. Parking meters on the east side of Dresden Row in that section have been removed.
As a result, there will be five new signed parking spaces on Annandale Street, between Briar Lane and Dresden Row, that should be available for public use tomorrow (Thursday).
In addition, Artillery Place will be temporarily converted to one-way westbound traffic (Birmingham Street to Dresden Row), effective next Monday, December 8th. Four new metered parking spaces will be created in this block. This temporary situation is likely to be in place for the next year or so, pending the construction schedule of the Martello Tower Project on top of Park Lane Mall.
