YWCA of Halifax to Present Research Results and
Workshop on Women in Municipal Politics

(Monday, March 8, 2004) - The YWCA of Halifax, on behalf of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, has recently completed research into barriers and solutions to women's participation in municipal government.

Research results will be presented at a community meeting this Wednesday evening at Halifax Hall, City Hall. Refreshments and snacks will be served.

Following the research presentation, attendees (including municipal Councillors and Members of the Legislative Assembly), will workshop solutions and community action to increase women's participation in politics.

NOTE TO MEDIA: There will be an opportunity to photograph\interview elected officials and participants in attendance at 7:00 p.m. This will be followed by a summary presentation of the research results to be held in the HRM Media Briefing Room, Lower Level, City Hall, beginning at 7:10 p.m.
