RecConnect Goes Live
(Thursday, March 11, 2004) - Councillor Sheila Fougere and Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Dan English today launched the new registration service for HRM's recreation programs.
RecConnect is an electronic service that will allow HRM residents to register for recreation programs from the comfort of their home or office by using the internet or touch-tone phone. This service will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
"With RecConnect it is now easier than ever to make recreation part of your everyday life," said Councillor Fougere. "You can avoid line-ups completely when you register for HRM's many recreation programs through RecConnect and it only takes a few minutes."
To access RecConnect, residents must first call or visit their local recreation centre to obtain a RecConnect client number and family personal identification number (PIN). Once they have received these numbers, they can register for any number of programs through the internet at www.halifax.ca/RecConnect or touch-tone phone 490-EAZY(3299) or 1-866-263-EAZY (3299). Recreation programs are listed in the recreation catalogues which are mailed to residents' homes as well as being available on line. For touch-tone phone use, residents need to have a copy of the recreation catalogue in order to register for specific programs.
"This service is just in time for registering for March Break and spring programs showcasing pottery, theatre, basketball just to name a few," said Councillor Fougere.
RecConnect is the second step in HRM's e-services initiatives, with parking tickets being the first. Plans for the future of e-services include low value building permits and on-line customer service requests.
