FCM to release 2004 Quality of Life Report Apr. 14
The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) will release its 2004 report on quality of life in urban Canada today at 12:30 p.m. (Atlantic Time).
Edmonton Councillor Michael Phair, chair of the committee that authored the report, will brief news media via conference call on April 14 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
The report draws on data from FCM's Quality of Life Reporting System and focuses on six quality of life factors: local economy, natural environment, personal goals and aspirations, fairness and equity, basic needs, and social inclusion. The report also looks at underlying demographic trends affecting the 20 survey municipalities.
The 20 municipalities are: Calgary, Alberta; Edmonton, Alberta; Halifax (Regional Municipality), Nova Scotia; Halton (Regional Municipality), Ontario; Hamilton, Ontario; Kingston, Ontario; London, Ontario; Niagara (Regional Municipality), Ontario; Ottawa, Ontario; Peel (Regional Municipality), Ontario; Quebec (Metropolitan Community), Quebec; Regina, Saskatchewan; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; Sudbury (City of Greater), Ontario; Toronto, Ontario; Vancouver, British Columbia; Waterloo (Regional Municipality), Ontario; Windsor, Ontario; Winnipeg, Manitoba; York (Regional Municipality), Ontario.
