Lower Water Street Temporarily Re-Opened to Traffic

(Thursday, April/ 2004) --- Effective immediately, Lower Water Street in front of the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic will reopen to vehicular traffic.

This is a temporary re-opening to allow for the completion of archeological work at a dig site at that location, which is part of the sewage collection system for the Harbour Solutions Project.

Construction work on Lower Water Street could resume as early as Monday April 19th, at which time a full road closure between Sackville and Prince Streets during the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. would again be in effect.

Residents are also reminded Hollis Street, between Sackville and Morris Streets, continues to be restricted to single-lane traffic on a block-by-block basis. Traffic delays can be expected for approximately 2 1/2 months. Traffic control personnel will be on site to assist with traffic flow.

HRM apologizes for any inconvenience this necessary construction may cause.
