Official Order Signed for New District Boundaries

(Tuesday, May 11/2004)-- Halifax Regional Municipality has been advised that the official order declaring the new district boundaries recently determined by the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board has been signed.

The new district boundaries do not take effect until the next Halifax Regional Council is sworn-in and takes office on November 2, 2004. Candidates in the upcoming election will be campaigning using the new district boundaries, but those boundaries do not officially become effective until November 2nd.

Acting Municipal Clerk Jan Gibson said today maps and legal descriptions of the districts will be available on the HRM web site at www.halifax.ca. Hard copy maps may be purchased by contacting James Gannon, Manager, Geographic Information Systems and Services, 490-6568 or email gannonj@halifax.ca

Those seeking further information regarding the new district boundaries are asked to contact the Municipal Clerk's Office at 490-4210.
