HRM to Oppose Refineries Act
(Monday, May 17/2004)-- Halifax Regional Municipality is scheduled to appear before Legislature's Law Amendments Committee today to make a presentation regarding the Oil Refineries and Liquid Petroleum Gas (LNG) Plants Municipal Taxation Act.
Mayor Peter Kelly, on behalf of Halifax Regional Council, and George McLellan, Chief Administrative Officer, will make the presentation before the committee. HRM is opposing the legislation because it alters the assessment process as it applies to the Imperial Refinery in Dartmouth.
