Transit Service Adjustments due to Marathon

(Friday, May 21, 2004 ) Metro Transit wishes to advise passengers that as a result of the Bluenose Marathon being held on Sunday, May 23rd , minor delays to transit service can be expected on Routes #1 Spring Garden, #2 Wedgewood, # 4 Rosedale, # 9 Barrington , # 10 Dalhousie and # 52 Crosstown.

With the Macdonald Bridge closed between 7am and 10am, the Routes #1 Spring Garden, #10 Dalhousie and # 52 Crosstown will detour as follows: traveling to Dartmouth, via Gottingen Street, Young Street, Robie Street to the Mackay Bridge, to the Victoria Road Extension to Boland Road; and turning into the Bridge Terminal. Route # 52 will turn left off North Street onto Gottingen Street.

Traveling towards Halifax, the detour will follow Wyse Road to Boland Road, turning right on Boland to Victoria Road to the Mackay Bridge and Barrington Street. The Route # 52 will turn up North Street from Barrington and resume normal routing.

As the result of large numbers of people traveling to the marathon, the Alderney Ferry will begin service earlier than usual on Sunday Morning, with the first boat departing Dartmouth at 7 am and running half hour service with the last boat leaving Halifax at 6:15 pm.

For further Ferry/Bus route and schedule information, please call the HRM Call Centre at 490-4000, between 7:30 am-10 pm, any day of the week.
