Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency Celebrates 250 Years of Organized Fire Fighting at a Kick Off Event on Monday, May 31st at Grand Parade
(Friday, May 21, 2004) - On Monday, May 31, 2004 the Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency will celebrate its 250th anniversary of organized fire fighting at a kick-off event at the Grand Parade. Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency is the oldest fire service in Canada and the event will feature displays of old and new vehicles, fire fighters in period costumes, technical rope rescue, hazmat, fire prevention, and many other exhibits.
The following events will take place:
8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Free Pancake Breakfast
10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Official Ceremony( includes Flag Unveiling, Carved Statue and book cover design presentation)
11:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Entertainment by children's entertainer, Mary Lambert
11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. BBQ Fundraiser for Burn Treatment Society
