Works Crews Act Quickly
(Friday August 20, 2004) - Heavy rain overnight and a possible blockage caused a sewer surcharge in the Sackville Landing area of the Halifax waterfront this morning. HRM Public Works and Transportation and Waterfront Development Corporation crews were on site early this morning. Crews have much of the area restored but are asking pedestrians to stay out of cordoned off areas.
Clean up will involve washing down of affected areas as well as a complete disinfection.
Crews expect to have the area fully restored later today.
