Local Olympian Paddler in Semi-Finals Tonight
(Tuesday, August 24/04)-- Many Lake Echo residents and members of the Orenda Canoe Club will be burning the midnight-oil tonight, cheering on local Olympian paddler Steve Giles who is competing in the canoe 1,000 metre semi-finals.
Councillor David Hendsbee said area residents and supporters of Giles are invited to gather at the Lake Echo Community Centre,3168 #7 Highway, to watch televised coverage of the Olympic event in Athens, which begins at 2:30 tomorrow morning.
