Street Improvements, Sidewalk Projects Underway in District 22
(Wednesday, August 25/2004)-- More than $500,000 in street and sidewalk improvements in the Lakeside/Timberlea area are expected to be completed in the next few months, Councillor Reg Rankin confirmed today.
Councillor Rankin said he is pleased the sidewalk installation project along St. Margaret's Bay Road is continuing this year, because it will provide added pedestrian safety along that busy road. The new sidewalks are being installed from Wilbert Street to Poirier Lane, with a partial street pavement overlay. Total project cost is $234,100 (plus HST) and the contractor is Ocean Contracting. Completion date is set for October 1.
An additional new sidewalk and pavement renewal is also underway on James Street/Roland Avenue (Trunk #3 to Beechville, Lakeside Timberlea Elementary School entrance). Contractor is Sackville Trenching and total tendered cost is $293,325 (plus HST).
