Atlantic Mayors' Congress

– Mayor Peter Kelly is hosting the Atlantic Mayors’
Congress in Halifax Regional Municipality on October 29 and 30.
The following opportunities are open to the media.

City Hall
Mayor Peter Kelly is Founder and Chair of the Atlantic Mayors Congress,
which represents 16 Mayors from Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island,
New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador.
Established in November 2001, the Congress meets bi-annually to
discuss common issues, particularly in dealings with the federal
and provincial governments.
New Deal for Cities and Communities
Friday, October 29 at 1:15 p.m.
Council Chambers - City Hall
The Honourable John Godfrey, Minister of State for Infrastructure
and Communities, and other guests will join the Atlantic Mayors’
Congress to discuss the New Deal for Cities and Communities. Other
guests include New Glasgow Mayor Ann MacLean, President of the Federation
of Canadian Municipalities; and Dalhousie University’s Vice-President
External Dale Godsoe, a Nova Scotia representative on the Federal
Advisory Committee for Cities and Communities.
Foreign Overfishing in Atlantic Canada
Friday, October 29 at 6:30 p.m.
Council Chambers - City Hall
The Honourable Geoff Regan, Minister of Oceans and Fisheries, will
speak to the Atlantic Mayors’ Congress about the issue of
foreign overfishing in Atlantic Canada.
Immigration in Atlantic Canada
Saturday, October 30 at 11:45 a.m.
Pier 21 - Heritage Hall
The Honourable Judy Sgro, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration,
will address the Atlantic Mayors’ Congress on the issue of
immigration in Atlantic Canada.
