Halifax Regional Council to Tour Western Region

(Friday, November 26/04)-- The first of three familiarization tours for the new Halifax Regional Council will be held on Monday, November 29.

The first tour will include communities in Districts located within the western region of HRM.

Members of the media are invited to travel on the bus with Council and staff. Please confirm your attendance with Juanita Hartlen at 490-4026.

The following is the itinerary to date for the tour. Because this is a familiarization tour, all times are approximate and there may be variations en route.

Depart City Hall 0830 am

Travel over MacKay Bridge to Lower Sackville District 20, taking first exit to Cobequid Road turn right and travel to Sackville Sports Stadium.

Arrive Sackville Sports Stadium 0900 am

Depart Sackville Sports Stadium 0915 am

Travel up Pinehill Drive, turning right on Sackville Drive to Acadia Centre.

Arrive Acadia Centre 0925 am

Depart Acadia Centre 0945 am

Travel Sackville Drive to Lucasville Road to Highway 213, continuing to Pockwock for site visit.

Arrive Pockwock 10:10 am

Depart Pockwock 10:30 am

Take highway 103 to St. Margaret’s Arena.

Arrive St. Margaret’s Arena 10:50 am

Depart St. Margaret’s Arena 11:00 am

Travel Highway 103 to Hubbards

Arrive Hubbards 11:30 am

Depart Hubbards 11:45 am

Take Highway 103 back until reaching Route 213 takes you to Route 333.

Arrive Tantallon 12:15 pm

Lunch

Depart Tantallon at 1:15 pm

Follow Route 333 to Peggys Cove, with stop at Swiss Air Monument.

Arrive Peggys Cove 1:45 pm

Depart Peggys Cove 2:00 pm

Take Route 333 towards HRM, then take Route 306 to Sambro, take Route 253 to Sir Sanford Fleming Park.

Arrive Sir Fleming Park 3:30 pm

Depart Sir Fleming Park 3:45 pm

Arrive City Hall 4:30 pm
