Clarification
Ad in the Community Newspaper "The Laker"
(Thursday, October 14/04)--
Halifax Regional Municipality is in no way associated with an advertisement
which was published on page 15 of the October 2004 edition of the
community newspaper “The Laker.” The paper is distributed
in the Lakeview, Waverley and Fall River area.
The full-page ad, placed by the Canal District Recreation Association
(CDRA), included a telephone number for an HRM Recreation Centre
as being the point of contact for the association. This was done
without HRM’s permission and without its prior knowledge and
approval.
As a result, this may have left some readers with the impression
that HRM was a partner in this advertisement and that it sanctioned
it and its content. That is incorrect.
HRM is in no way responsible for, nor does it endorse the advertisement,
its content or the views expressed in that ad.
