(Wednesday, December 8,
2004) - On going construction related to the Harbour Solutions Project
- Sewage Collection System will reduce traffic to 1 lane on Lower
Water Street between George and Duke Streets. This 1 lane reduction
will take place effective Friday, December 10th and be in effect
until Wednesday, December 22nd. Access to the Metro Transit bus
terminal in front of the Law Courts building will still be available.
Residents are also reminded Lower Water Street in front of the Maritime
Museum of the Atlantic will remain closed to vehicular traffic until
Thursday, December 16th. This closure will take place between Sackville
Street and Prince Streets, 7 days a week, during the hours of 7am
and 7pm. From 7pm - 7am, 2 lane northbound traffic will now be available.
Truck traffic servicing the southend of Halifax, the Port etc...is
asked to use alternative routing. Residents are also asked to use
alternative routing.
Construction also continues on Barrington Street from Kent Street
south to the intersection of Inglis Street and Victoria Road. Traffic
delays can be expected for approximately 2 weeks. Traffic will be
limited to single lane stop & go, two way flow.
In all the above mentioned locations, traffic control personnel
will ensure smooth traffic flow. On site personnel will also maintain
communication with local residents and businesses to help minimize
impacts.
