Park to be Named After Joe Howe

(Monday, December 13/04)-- Today marks the 200th anniversary of Joe Howe’s birthday.

As a special commemoration, Halifax Regional Municipality will rename a Dartmouth park in his honour. HRM contributed $5,000 towards development of the park, and the remaining $2,000 came from the Dartmouth Historical Society.

Councillor Gloria McCluskey, on behalf of Halifax Regional Council, will officially rename Pocket Park in downtown Dartmouth as Joe Howe Park during a ceremony at noon today.
