Major Shoreline Repairs Underway at Point Pleasant Park

(Tuesday, December 7/04)-- Pet owners are advised to keep their dogs on-leash while walking along the Shore Road area of Point Pleasant Park for the next few weeks.

Construction is underway on 500 feet of shoreline restoration along the Arm Road, from the rest room area to the Summer House intersection. This area will be closed off to the public for four weeks.

The work is required due largely to damage caused by Hurricane Juan last year.

Heavy trucks will be hauling large rocks from the Black Rock Beach area, along Shore Road and around the shoreline of the park, to the site of the former Purcell's Landing on the Arm Road.

The public is permitted to walk along Shore Road, but should exercise extreme caution due to the presence of large machinery. This is of particular concern if dogs are permitted off-leash.

Hauling of the rocks should be completed by December 22, depending on weather conditions. There will be security onsite and proper signage to warn of truck traffic and construction.
