Harbour Solutions Road Work, Downtown Halifax

Friday, October 8, 2004 - Beginning on or after Monday October 11th, 2004, construction related to the Harbour Solutions Project - Sewage Collection System will necessitate the closure of the westbound lane of Morris Street from Hollis to Barrington Streets. Traffic control personnel will be on-site to assist motorists and ensure safe, timely traffic movement On-site personnel will also maintain communication with local residents to help minimize impacts.The duration of this work will be approximately three weeks.

Also beginning Monday, October 11th, 2004, Harbour Solutions Project - Sewage Collection System construction will necessitate the closure of the south bound lane of Lower Water Street between Prince and George Streets. This closure will be in effect Monday October 11th, Wednesday, October 13th, Friday October 15th, Monday October 18th and Wednesday October 20th only. Traffic control personnel will be on-site to assist motorists and ensure safe, timely traffic movement through the use of single lane stop-and-go two-way traffic.
The construction on Lower Water Street is to allow for the pouring of concrete as part of the on-going construction of an underground tunnel running from the site of the Halifax Water Treatment Plant to an area roughly located at the intersection of Sackville and Lower Water Streets. The construction of this tunnel below the downtown core has and will continue to greatly reduce the traffic impacts associated with surface road work
