Citizens urged to Consider Serving on HRM Committees
(Friday, November 19/04)--
Mayor Peter Kelly said today there are a number of current and upcoming
vacancies on various municipal boards, commissions and committees
for any citizens interest in volunteering their time and effort
to making HRM a better place in which to live, work, play and learn.
Mayor Kelly said “Volunteerism is the highest level of community
service. There are many citizens in HRM who want to give something
back to their community and I can think of no greater way than to
serve on a municipal board, commission or committee. Public serve
brings with it a great deal of personal satisfaction, and at the
same time, helps to make HRM an even better community than it is
now.”
Currently, there are vacancies on the following committees:
• Advisory Committee for Persons with Disabilities
• Community & Race Relations Advisory Committee
• Grant Committee
• Halifax-Dartmouth Canada Day Committee
• Halifax-Dartmouth Natal Day Steering Committee
• North West Planning Advisory Committee
