HRM Poet Laureate to Launch Legacy Project
(Wednesday, April 13/05)-- HRM’s first Poet Laureate, Sue MacLeod ,will launch “To Find Us: words and images of Halifax,” next week in Halifax as part of National Poetry Month.
The book, which is an anthology of poetry, prose and black and white photography, is her legacy project, marking the end of her term as the municipality’s Poet Laureate.
The urban streets and rural coastlines of HRM form the setting for poems, stories and images by well-known writers and photographers, including George Elliot Clarke, Lisa Moore, Sue Goyette, Don Domanski, Margot Metcalfe, and Scott Munn. There are also a number of surprising “new voices” and "new eyes."
This anthology is supported by: The Office of Mayor Peter J. Kelly, The Craig Foundation, Halifax Public Libraries and HRM Recreation, Tourism & Culture.
Copies of the book will be made available at no cost to the media in advance, upon request, for media reviews. Please contact Robin Boudreau at 490-6094 to make arrangements.
