Downtown Halifax Road Construction

(Wednesday, May 18, 2005) - Construction related to the Harbour Solutions - Source Separation Project will necessitate the continued closure of Argyle Street from Carmichael to Prince Streets. Road work on Argyle Street has been proceeding in two phases.

The first phase of construction involved the closure of Argyle Street from Duke Street to Prince Street. This work was completed ahead of schedule.

The second phase of construction involves the closure of Argyle Street from Carmichael Street south to Prince Street. The expected duration is approximately 2 weeks.
Motorists can expect 1 lane stop and go traffic at the foot of Carmichael Street.

Construction activity will take place Monday to Friday from 7 A.M. to 6 P.M., with some weekend work as required.

Motorists are advised that parking zones on both sides of the work area on Argyle Street will be closed. Motorists are asked to use alternate routing.

Pedestrian traffic will still have access to Argyle Street.

This work will separate storm and sanitary sewers, which are currently combined, to provide environmental enhancements.

We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary construction may cause.
