Bedford Days 2005 The Largest Fireworks in Canada

(Wednesday, June 8/2005)-- Bedford Days 2005 will host the largest Canada Day fireworks show in Canada, Deputy Mayor Len Goucher announced today.

The Deputy Mayor, who is also a member of the Bedford Days 2005 organizing committee, said the fireworks mark a culmination of years of work by committee members and sponsors.

“The organizing committee has been vigorously working to ensure that Bedford and HRM have the biggest and best Bedford Days extravaganza, and the largest fireworks displays in the country. Our commitment to our community and sponsors is to maintain that lead role,” he said.

Although Charlottetown has been aggressively advertising its 2005 Canada Day fireworks show to be the biggest in the country, Deputy Mayor Goucher confirmed through Fred Wade, of Fireworks FX, that the Bedford pyrotechnics event will hold the honour this year of the ‘largest Canada Day fireworks show in Canada’. Previously, the Island capital held the honour of the largest show in Atlantic Canada, until it was dethroned by Bedford in 2004.

Bedford Days will host three fireworks shows this year, all produced and fired by Fireworks FX.

• On Wednesday, June 22, at 10p.m., the Bedford Days kick-Off event will see the huge Greater Homes fireworks display, the first planned by expert pyrotechnics choreographer Patrick Guy, and remotely fired by computer.

• On Friday, June 24, the TD Bank Children’s Night event will see a smaller, but significant, show fired at 9 p.m. for the children.

• On Friday, July 1st, the Clayton, Cresco, Kiel Canada Fireworks spectacular will light up the Bedford night.

Bedford Days events are being held at Dewolf Park on the Bedford waterfront, starting Wednesday June 22nd at 7pm.
