Concerns about Woodside Ferry Terminal to be Addressed

(Friday, August 5, 2005) - Councillor Becky Kent said today that commuters can expect to see some immediate, as well as longer-term improvements to the Woodside Ferry Terminal.

Councillor Kent requested a staff review and comprehensive plan to address maintenance issues and upgrades needed at the Woodside Ferry Terminal at a regular meeting of Regional Council earlier this week. Today, she and Mayor Peter Kelly met with HRM staff at the terminal and toured the facility.

“There was significant concern regarding shortfalls in regular maintenance, as well as considerable concern about infrastructure upgrades that are needed now,” Councillor Kent said “
We will continue to work with staff to develop an immediate and longer term plan for the facility.”

Some immediate improvements that the public should see is exterior painting, parking lot lines re-painted, appropriate signage, new flower beds and trimming of existing trees and shrubbery

A more comprehensive plan for long-term and larger scale upgrades will be developed.
