Downtown Halifax Road Construction

(Wednesday, August 31, 2005) - Beginning Wednesday, August 31, 2005 construction will necessitate the closure of Bishop Street from Hollis to Lower Water Street. Access to this section of Bishop Street will be for local traffic only.

Access for residents, businesses and parking lots in the affected area will be maintained at all times. Emergency vehicles will also have complete access at all times. Sidewalks will remain open for pedestrian traffic.

The expected duration of the work is three weeks.

The hours of work will be Monday to Friday from 7 A.M. to 6 P.M., with some weekend work as required.

Experienced traffic control personnel will ensure smooth traffic flow. On site personnel will also maintain communication with local residents and businesses to help minimize impacts.

This project will separate storm and sanitary sewers, which are currently combined, to provide environmental enhancements. In some areas, new watermains will be installed at the same time.  We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary Harbour Solutions Project-Source Separation work may cause.
