Beach at Kearney Lake Reopened

(Friday, September 23, 2005) - After extensive microbiological sampling of Little Kearney Lake, Kearney Lake and the interconnecting river, the beach at Kearney Lake has been reopened.

The sampling results indicate that no surface water quality impairment occurred as a result of a pumping station wastewater bypass on Sept. 15/05.

The Medical Officer of Health and staff from the Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Labour have been consulted. Advisory signs regarding water quality, which were posted as a precautionary measure, are being removed as of this morning.
