Citizens Urged to Serve on HRM Boards, Commissions
(Friday, September 30/2005)--- Mayor Peter Kelly today urged citizens of the Halifax Regional Municipality to consider volunteering to fill vacancies on a number of local government boards, committees and commissions.
Mayor Kelly said there are a number of vacancies becoming available soon, as current terms of serving members are about to expire.
In order to allow as many citizens as possible to apply and to encourage broad representation on HRM boards, committees and commissions, the deadline for applications is October 14, 2005.
In addition to those of Regional Council, residents may also apply to serve on a number of committees established under HRM's Community Councils.
For further information about volunteering to serve on municipal boards, committees and commissions, residents are asked to contact the Office of the Municipal Clerk at 490-6524

All citizens interested in volunteering as members of the following boards, committees and commissions are invited to complete and submit an application form. Regional Council will ensure whenever possible, that appointments reflect the diversity of the community.

Applicants must be residents of the Halifax Regional Municipality. Applications will remain on file and be considered for vacancies that may occur through the 2005/06 calendar year.
