Economic Strategy to be Presented to Regional Council
(October 18,2005) - Over recent months Halifax Regional Municipality has been actively seeking the input of community leaders, businesses, government and citizens in an attempt to define our region’s economic future and the specific actions required to get us there. The development of the region’s first comprehensive Economic Strategy is the result.
Fred Morley, Project Manager, will be available this afternoon (on an embargo basis) to provide an overview of the Economic Strategy being presented to Regional Council for approval this evening.
Five key goals and eleven specific strategies are highlighted with the aim of by the year 2010, transforming HRM into a bustling job market that compels our young and ambitious to stay and makes our community a magnet for highly trained immigrants and expatriates.
Members of the media are invited to attend this briefing.

NOTE: Participants must agree in advance that no information obtained as a result of the briefing, in whole or in part, will be released to the public prior to the official presentation of the Economic Strategy to Council this evening, beginning at 6 pm. Also, participants must agree not to discuss the Economic Strategy or its contents with the Mayor and Council prior to the document being tabled in Council Chambers.
