Regional Councillors to Discuss Community Focus Areas for Upcoming Budget

(Monday, November 14/05)-- Halifax Regional Council has scheduled a series of Committee of the Whole meetings in the coming weeks to discuss special focus areas and to provide direction for staff in the preparation of the draft 2006-2007 Operating and Capital Budgets.

These meetings will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber on the following dates. Included are the topics to be discussed at each session.

November 15 Fiscal Framework - Infrastructure (Including the Municipal Rural Infrastructure Program (MRIF)

November 22 Taxation, Transit and Traffic

November 29 Public Safety & By-Law Enforcement

December 6 Community Relations and Youth

December 13 Community Recreation, Community Development
and Economic Development

Eastlink Television will broadcast these meetings live, as well as re-broadcast them at various times during the coming weeks as its broadcast schedule permits.
