New HRM Integrated Dispatch and Telecommunication Centre to be Opened
(Tuesday, November 15/05)-- HRM’s new Integrated Dispatch and Telecommunications Centre will be officially opened during a brief ceremony on Friday.
The new centre marks a major advance in consolidating HRM’s Emergency and Non-Emergency Call Taking and Dispatch Services in one new state-of-the-art facility.
It also allows for closer integration of emergency and non-emergency call taking and dispatch in close proximity to the Joint Federal, Provincial and Municipal Emergency Operations Centre. HRM joins the ranks of municipalities such as Montreal, Toronto, Windsor and Calgary in investing in the infrastructure to support public safety and service delivery.
Mayor Peter Kelly, Regional Councillors, representatives of the federal and provincial governments, as well as public safety stakeholders and service providers have been invited to attend the ceremony at the new facility, located in the rear of the Eric Spicer Building, 21 Mount Hope Avenue, Woodside.
Once operational, the centre will be a secure site, so the media is advised to take advantage of this one-time-only opportunity to obtain stock video footage and photographs of the Emergency (9-1-1) portion of the Integrated Dispatch Centre.
When: Friday, November 18, 2005
Time: 2 p.m.
Where: Rear of Building, Eric Spicer Building, 21 Mount Hope Avenue, Woodside
