HRM Joins Sustainable Cities Group
(Wednesday, December 14, 2005) - Halifax Regional Municipality becomes the newest member of the International Centre for Sustainable Cities (ICSC) today.
Deputy Mayor Russell Walker will sign the Official Declaration on behalf of Halifax Regional Council and Samantha Anderson, Senior Project Officer, will sign on behalf of ICSC.
The signing ceremony at 1 p.m. is part of HRM 's 3rd Energy -Environment -Economy Roundtable, which focuses on community sustainability.
Some of the benefits of membership in the ICSC include, sharing of information for long term planning and development; improved investor confidence; better understanding and improved excellence in long-term urban sustainability; and increased cost-effectiveness of planning processes and methodologies.
Other Canadian ICSC members include Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Ottawa.
