Residents Plan to Oppose License Renewal for Adult Club
( Wednesday, March 15/06)-- The Society for a Safe and Healthy Neighbourhood will hold a community meeting this Saturday to discuss the upcoming Utility and Review Board public hearings on the liquor licence application renewal for the Sensations Club Cabaret in Darmouth.
Councillor Jim Smith said there have been dozens of objections sent to the Alcohol and Gaming Authority regarding the renewal of this licence. The local community has received support from many organizations, such as the Neighbourhood Watch and the District 9 Citizen's Association, as well as church and day care groups.
“With the public hearings only a couple weeks away, it is time to have an organizing meeting to ensure that the message gets to the URB clearly and distinctly--- the community does not want this type of business in this location,” he said. “Objectors will be giving evidence as to the impacts the operation of the Club has already had on the quiet enjoyment of the surrounding neighbourhood.”
