Downtown Halifax Road Construction
(Friday, April 7, 2006) - Attention motorists, continued Harbour Solutions Project – Source Separation construction will necessitate the closure of Upper Water Street, between Duke Street and the Hollis Street Bypass. Construction is scheduled to get underway on or about Tuesday, April 11, 2006. The expected duration of construction is six weeks.
The work will require the closure of Upper Water Street from Duke Street to the Hollis Street Bypass. All traffic traveling north on Upper Water St. will be diverted west onto Duke Street.
The sidewalk on the west side of the street will remain open at all times during the construction. The sidewalk on the east side (harbour side) of the street will be closed during the initial 3 weeks of the project from the southern end of the main entrance into Historic Properties to the exit of the Law Courts underground parking lot. During this time, pedestrians will be directed along the west side of the street then across Upper Water St. to the main entrance of Historic Properties and beyond. Parking zones within the work area will be closed for the duration of the project.
Please note, all shops and services at Historic Properties and other shops in the work area will remain open.
The hours of construction will be Monday to Friday from 7 A.M. to 6 P.M., with some weekend work as required.
Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site 24 hours a day to ensure smooth traffic flow. On site personnel will also maintain communication with local residents and businesses to help minimize impacts.
We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary Harbour Solutions-Source Separation work may cause.
