Traffic Signal Upgrade Work May Cause Delays

(Thursday, April 13/06)-- Motorists are advised to expect delays in the Portland Street/Prince Arthur Avenue of Dartmouth due to traffic upgrade construction in that area.

The project involves installation of traffic signal poles, mast arms, signal lights and associated work. Crews have started to work on overhead wiring and the cutting of traffic loops in the street.

Excavation for concrete pole bases and underground conduits will be started on the evening of April 24, 2006 after 6:00 P.M., with planned completion by 11:00 P.M. the same evening.

It is hoped this will lessen disruption to traffic on Portland Street during regular hours.

Signal poles and equipment will be installed upon arrival from suppliers.

HRM apologizes for any inconvenience.
