Meeting to Discuss Neighbourhood Watch Program

(Tuesday, April 18/06)-- Residents of District 16 are invited to attend a public meeting tomorrow evening to discuss the potential benefits of the Neighbourhood Watch program to their area.

Councillor Debbie Hum, who is coordinating the event with Halifax Regional Police Constables Tanya Chambers and Dwight Hennigar, said the meeting is in response to increased residents' concerns regarding incidents of crime in local neighbourhoods, particularly vandalism, youth related issues and break and enters.

Councillor Hum said the purpose of the information and organizational meeting is to introduce the Neighbourhood Watch program to interested and concerned residents who may want to implement the program on their street, in their condominium or apartment complex or their neighbourhood.
