Community groups Contributes Towards Cost of New Swing Set

(Wednesday, April 26/06)-- The North End Walkers, a local citizen group who keep fit with daily exercise, will present a cheque for $500 next week to Councillor Dawn Sloane to go towards the cost of a new swing set on the Halifax Commons.

The 30-members of the group took up a challenge during the past year to walk over three million (3,000,000) steps on special walking routes the North End Community Health Centre developed to help increase activity in their community. The group walks for different community cause every four-to-five months, and with the help of the Halifax Peninsula Community Health Board last year they raised money for various community events.
