Downtown Halifax Road Construction

(Friday, May 12, 2006) - Attention motorists, continued Harbour Solutions Project – Source Separation construction will necessitate the continued 24 hour closure of Upper Water Street, between Duke Street and the Hollis Street Bypass.

The expected duration of construction is 2 weeks.

The work will require the 24 hour closure of Upper Water Street from Duke Street to the Hollis Street Bypass. All traffic traveling north on Upper Water St. will be diverted west onto Duke Street.

The sidewalk on the west side of the street will remain open at all times during the construction. Parking zones within the work area will be closed for the duration of the project.

Please note, all shops and services at Historic Properties and other shops in the work area will remain open.


The hours of construction will be Monday to Friday from 7 A.M. to 6 P.M., with some weekend work as required. As tidal conditions require, some work may also occur outside regular hours.


Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site 24 hours a day to ensure smooth traffic flow. On site personnel will also maintain communication with local residents and businesses to help minimize impacts.We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary Harbour Solutions-Source Separation work may cause.
