Candidates Reminded About Placement of Signs

(Wednesday, May 24/06)-- Candidates in the upcoming provincial election are reminded that campaign signs should be restricted to private property (with the permission of the property owner) and should not be installed within the municipal street right-of-way.

Signs must not obstruct the view of traffic at intersections and driveways. Also, signs must not be installed on utility poles or municipal trees. All signs should be removed within one week following the June 13, 2006 election.

Adherence to these guidelines should preclude any problems; however, pleased be advised that any signs posing a safety hazard will be removed by HRM at the cost of the candidate.

For further information, candidates/agents are asked to contact HRM Right-of-Way Services at 490-6240.
