Public Meeting to Discuss Main Street Project in Dartmouth

(Thursday, May 25/06)-- The first workshop for members of the public interested in the Main Street Streetscape Project in Dartmouth, will be held in early June.

“This is an early opportunity in the process for the public to ensure their ideas, on how to improve the Main Street and Tacoma Drive area, are documented and considered as the process moves forward,” says District 6 Councillor Andrew Younger. “Many residents have already expressed their ideas on how to improve the business climate of the area, as well as improve the pedestrian and transit friendliness of the neighbourhood.”

The workshop will be facilitated by Ekistics Planning and Design. It provides an early opportunity for residents and business owners to submit their ideas at the ground level of this design project.

The project is led by a steering committee, which includes Councillor Younger; Stewart MacMillan, HRM’s Streetscape Coordinator; HRM staff, and two members representing local residents.

The Main Street/Tacoma Drive area is designated as a local centre in the proposed Regional Plan and is an important community business district in Dartmouth.
