HRM Looking for Volunteers to Serve on Committees
(Wednesday, May 31/06)-- HRM is seeking expressions of interest from residents to serve on the following two volunteer committees, which will act as advisory bodies to staff and Halifax Regional Council.
Cultural Advisory Committee: Members will serve a two-year term on this standing, permanent committee, which will work with staff and advise Regional Council on the ongoing implementation of the newly adopted HRM Cultural Plan. For more information please visit www.halifax.ca/culturalplan or call: Holly Richardson, HRM Regional Coordinator Culture & Heritage, at (902) 490-6889.
Urban Design Task Force: It is anticipated that the work of this ad hoc committee will occur over the course of two years throughout the creation of the Regional Centre Urban Design Study. This will include regular attendance at Task Force meetings and at Project Team meetings with HRM staff and the Urban Design Study consultant team. Committee members will represent both sectoral and geographic interests, and as such will actively seek out stakeholder input. For more information visit www.halifax.ca/capitaldistrict/urbandesign.htmlor call: Andy Fillmore, HRM Urban Design Project Manager, at (902) 490-6495.
Persons interested in serving on either committee are encouraged to submit a letter of interest to HRM. These letters should include any information that would assist Regional Council in making a final selection, such as any relevant knowledge or interest, as well as any previous experience on a similar committee.
More information on the duties, responsibilities and make-up of each committee is contained in the respective committee’s Terms of Reference document, available on the websites as indicated above.
Expressions of interest may be submitted to the Municipal Clerk, P.O. Box 1749, Halifax, Nova Scotia, B3J 3A5, or faxed to (902) 490-4208, no later than Friday, June 9, 2006.
