HRM to give itself a Makeover

(Monday, June 5/06) – On Wednesday, June 7, at 11:00 a.m., Halifax Regional Municipality, in partnership with Clean Nova Scotia Foundation and RRFB Nova Scotia, will launch the first 20-Minute HRMakeover.

The 20-Minute HRMakeover is a twenty minute municipal litter clean up based on the successful 20-Minute Toronto Makeover. This clean up targets businesses, schools and residents to come out for twenty minutes and clean up around their place of work, school or home. The goal is to engage as many participants as possible in order to have a bigger impact on litter.

Mayor Peter Kelly and Jim Bauld, Manager Solid Waste Resources, will kick off the event in the Grand Parade at 11:00 a.m. with Paul MacKinnon, Executive Director of the Downtown Halifax Business Commission (DHBC). Over 100 participants from the downtown businesses will be in attendance.
