Traffic Improvements on Main Street at Montague Rd

(Thursday, July 6/06)-- Motorists are advised to expect traffic delays in the Main Street/Montague Road area of Dartmouth for the new few months due to street and sidewalk improvements.

The work involves widening of Main Street, from near Panavista Drive to Montague Road, to allow for a two-way, left- turn lane, a bicycle lane, new concrete curb/gutter and new concrete sidewalk on both sides of the street. Also, there will be traffic signal repositioning at the intersection of Main Street and Montague Road.

Construction is scheduled to begin on July 12 and to be completed in early October.

During peak traffic flows, there will be two inbound lanes and one outbound lane on Main Street from 7:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M., and reversed from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.

Motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution while travelling in the construction zone and, if possible, seek an alternate travel route during the construction period.
